Scarpa Aliens

I was wearing my Aliens on the gondola in LaGrave, France and noticed I was getting quite a few strange looks.  A frenchman leaned over and asked me where I was going "cross-country" skiing.  I invited him to join Team USA as we explored the mountain.
"By exploring the domain of La Grave-La Meije, you are not in a typical ski resort. This is a real mountain environment as you head down  an unmarked, non-patrolled area at your own risk.  You must be aware of all mountain hazards including rocks, avalanches, crevasses, and be ready for the possibility of drastic weather changes.  In 30 minutes, the cable-car (téléphérique) takes you to 3200m, where you can create your own itinerary for the descent.  Choose from vast glacial escapes to steep chutes, a world away from the marked trails, the ropes, and the signs of a ski resort. Let your skill level and your inspirations guide you."

Aliens in the Air

These super lightweight boots aren't solely designed for racing (or "x-country").  The Aliens handled LaGrave's famous steeps superbly.  The tall cuff on these boots creates a very snug fit around your calf and allows you to drive a ski downhill with no problems.  They're also stiff enough to ski with a larger touring ski if you're inclined.
